This is what the Tassie Carnivals are all about…. Handicap racing. Riders start on different marks on the track, their handicap determined by an official “handicapper”. If the handicapper has done their job right, the riders should be crossing the finish line at the same time and sprinting for the win. If done correctly, it makes for an exciting finish. “Pushers” hold the riders at the start and give them a big push when the gun goes off. Here’s an example.
